TradingSnipe

Every earnings setup, read before the print. Every call graded after it.

TradingSnipe is a research terminal for trading earnings. Before a company reports, it reads what the options market is charging for the move, how the stock is positioned, what the company has filed and how its last twelve reports traded, and it comes to a call: long, short or avoid, with a conviction score from 0 to 100. After the report, that call is graded on the close.

The free plan needs no card, and the 12 functions on it open straight away.

The seal is engraved from the latest settlements, and cut again every session. Its outer ring has one lobe for each point of thirty-day volatility (17); its inner ring one for each point of three-month volatility (19); its centre a petal for each half-point of the ten-year Treasury yield, which has not arrived.

Thirty-day volatility settled at 16.91 and three-month at 19.22.

These are the readings a desk checks before it looks at any single name: what protection costs now and three months out, and what money costs for two years and ten. All five volatility maturities and the whole Treasury curve are on The Wire, which is free and needs no account.

What goes into a call

Five things are read for every report, in this order. Only then is there a call.

  1. Option pricing

The move the option chain is charging for the report, split from ordinary day-to-day variance; the term structure into the date; and how that implied move compares with what this stock has actually done.

  2. Positioning

Short interest, insider transactions by their filing code, and the open interest standing at the expiry that spans the report.

  3. The company

Its own reported results and guidance from its filings, the consensus line, and the financial statements as filed.

  4. The record

Up to twelve prior reports, each timed from the moment it was filed, with the reaction on the session that traded it.

  5. The check

Every figure, quotation, count and causal claim in the written report is matched to a sourced fact. One that fails is repaired, or the trade is withheld.

The call

LongShortAvoid

One of three words, a conviction score from 0 to 100, and the reasons in writing.

The grade

Each call is graded on the close of the session that traded the report, and the graded record is part of the terminal.

What it is not

It does not forecast the print.

No earnings figure or guidance is predicted. The work prices what the market already expects and finds where that expectation and the evidence disagree.

It is not personal advice.

This is general, impersonal research. It does not know your book, your risk or your tax position, and it is not an investment adviser.

It does not fill a gap.

When a source does not answer, the desk says so in that place and leaves it empty. It never prints an estimate where a reading should be.
